Talking therapies are brief psychotherapy and I would recommend 8 to 20 sessions.  These sessions are individual, aim to teach skills and strategies to provide you with the tools to become your own therapist.

Typical mental health issues I work with include, depression, generalised anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, body dysmorphic disorder, self-esteem issues, OCD, phobias, eating disorders and psychosis.

CBT and Mindfulness have a strong evidence base and are recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) for depression and anxiety disorders.

Les Tate

Working with people to improve their lives has always been a passion of mine. I use a range of methods to engage in making positive changes, and believe everyone is capable of improving their psychological wellbeing and tackling what life throws at them. No one should feel that life is a burden or that they cannot make changes or that asking for help in failure. Therapy can be the route to enable us to challenge our thoughts, feelings and behaviours to improve our direction in life.

I have spent that last thirty-five years working with adults and young people who have developed difficulties as a result of using drugs and alcohol. The emphasis focused on providing support, treatment and intervention strategies. The aim is to reduce the impact of using excessively or tackle dependency on substances.

I have devised a range of methods, skills, and strategies to assist with making changes through the use of counseling methods, solution-focused, motivational work, CBT approaches and recovery models.
I have been instrumental in developing models, practice and services for drug and alcohol users. All designed to enable people who find it difficult to make changes, improve outcomes and quality of health and wellbeing.

Previous experience: I have worked for the NHS, Barnardo’s and North Tyneside Council, working face to face with people, developing models of care, devising tools and strategies for engagement and interventions. I have been instrumental in service development as part of my previous roles, including local and national treatment planning, performance and service improvement. I was responsible for the local drug and alcohol strategy and commissioning of services on behalf of North Tyneside council.
